Today was the Open Day and I was delighted to share the new clinic – both in-person and online. If you weren’t able to join, here’s an overview:

Lifestyle Medicine is a medical specialty that prevents and treats chronic conditions, especially Type 2 diabetes, heart disease, and obesity. It is also used to support patients who want to reduce risk of certain types of cancers, manage menopause symptoms, or support fertility. It is Evidence-Based Medicine; it considers the patient as a whole person. Lifestyle Medicine Docs focus on nutrition, sleep, physical activity, stress management, reducing risk, social connections.

Developing a new clinic to function in a broken healthcare system requires a patient-centered approach. We do this 5 ways:
- Time – Appointments average around 60 minutes (up to 90 minutes)
- Accessibility – Patients can book themselves online, no referrals needed (though we do love them – helps continue patient care!)
- Affordabilty – using model such as group medical visits means private healthcare is accessible to more patients
- Communication – We are powered by Jane, using a GDPR and secure patient portal to give patients secure and direct access to their results, letters, plans, progress
- Hybrid model for flexibility – A mix of in-person and telehealth appointments, including early morning and evening

Group Medical Appointments are part of a successful UK/US model of healthcare that we are bringing to Ireland. Read more here: https://emdoc.ie/2022/06/12/7829/

Teamwork! We have referral pathways for allied health professionals, depending on patient need including physiotherapy, dietitian, psychology, and social prescribing.
