1 December: Priorities

Today, Healthy Holidays** about Priorities.

As we rush headlong into the holiday season, it’s alot of rushing. Alot of demands – on time and on money.

So, before we go any farther, let’s make of list of your priorities – what is most important to you? Rank them.

1. In the endless list of Christmas events and parties, which one(s) means the most?

2. What Christmas traditions bring you the most joy or meaning?

3. What person really needs a card/gift from you?

4. In that letter to Santa, which toy is the one that someone will really be looking for under the tree?

Think about budgeting (time, money, energy) for those items that made the top of the list – and then look towards the bottom of the list: do some of those things even need to be there?

And if we do that, we can start to find some time to do those basics even in this hectic month: sleep, eat well, make it to the gym/yoga class…

As I always tell my real-life patients: “No” is a full sentence. It’s not only okay to set boundaries – it’s quite healthy.

**Healthy Holidays is back for another year. This virtual advent calendar will post daily on low/no cost ways to look after your family physical/mental health this holiday season.
