Come Walk with me!

I’m excited to host our very first Walk with a Doc event!  Taking this social media project for health promotion and lifestyle medicine into the real world is incredibly exciting.

“There’s no question that increasing exercise, even moderately, reduces the risks of many diseases, including coronary heart disease, breast and colon cancer and Type 2 diabetes. Research has even shown that you could gain two hours of life for each hour that you exercise regularly.”

Walking as little as 30 minutes a day can provide the following benefits:

  • Improve blood pressure and blood sugar levels
  • Help maintain a healthy body weight and lower the risk of obesity
  • Enhance mental well-being
  • Reduce the risk of osteoporosis

The walk will be in Ashbourne, Co. Meath on Sunday 30 January at 10:00 AM.  We will meet in the outdoor amphitheatre next to the playground on Castle Street and walk the Slí na Sláinte. (It’s buggy friendly!  I’ve done it.)

Walk your own pace and distance, and learn a little more about using physical activity to improve youur health at this FREE community event!

You can read even more about the programme at: www.walkwithadoc.org
