Weight is Not Beauty.

This is the hill I will die on.  Every body is beautiful, and everyone should feel good in their body.

However, where weight is starting to increase risks of medical problems or complications, it is a medical problem – not an aesthetic one.  Obesity is a complex, chronic, progressive, and recurring disease.

The lack of access to obesity clinics in Ireland has meant lack of resources for patients to get access to proper treatments, safely. Patients are increasingly targeted with exploitative marketing misinformation. Patients deserve correct, unbiased, and personalised information about the right treatment, for the right patient, at the right time.

Do: talk to your GP, talk to your hospital consultant, check out ASOI resources, especially if you’ve experience weight stigma or bias in the past #endweightstigma

Avoid: medical tourism, TikTok (mis)information about Ozempic, supplements, detoxes, blackmarket drugs, and beauty influencers.

I’ve blogged on this topic – alot.  This Blog site is searchable by keyword “obesity” but you can start with Obesity and I’ve recorded a podcast episode breaking down the basics:  https://spotifyanchor-web.app.link/e/uFNPMzgD2Nb
