In the B.C. era (Before Covid), it used to be that attending a medical conference was travel, arranging clinic cover, jet lag, wearing obligatory sponsored lanyards…now, well, it’s simply downloading a Zoom background and keeping one eye on sleeping children. I do like that I don’t have to pack, but miss the travel and socialising. And I’m definitely going to miss some sleep due to the time difference (yes, I know, the irony of this being about
#wellness)
I’m going to talking a lot about lifestyle med over coming days because I’m attending the conference (and a break from talking about covid is great, too.)
Tonight, I’ll just start with the basics for anyone who’s missed previous discussions: what is
#lifestylemedicine?
“Lifestyle Medicine is the use of evidence-based lifestyle therapeutic intervention—including a whole-food, plant-predominant eating pattern, regular physical activity, restorative sleep, stress management, avoidance of risky substances and positive social connection—as a primary modality, delivered by clinicians trained and certified in this specialty, to prevent, treat and often reverse chronic disease.” (from ACLM)
