Notes from my real life practice:
I know I rant repeatedly on here about #mentalhealth, only trusting qualified dietitians for your child’s diet/allergies, and #vaccinate.
In the past week alone…
I met with a patient suffering complications from loss of vision in one eye as a teen due to a form of shingles. (so, yes, I advocate the chickenpox vaccine. #vaccineswork)
I have sat with a young patient with a complicated recovery from cannabis addiction. It is not a harmless drug!
Adolescents with repeated fractures of bones due to poor diet and inadequate intake of calcium/dairy and Vitamin D.
That doctor-patient relationship is that whole discussion, including the preventative health that no one wants to hear. Good health is physical, psychological, and social — and it all matters. One thing does lead to another.
This is where our doctor shortage causes harm. It’s not just the short term waiting lists.
