There are almost no wrong questions to ask your doctor.

Almost.

“When will my lungs have recovered enough from #covid so I can start smoking again?”

I’m going to let your lungs themselves answer this one: Never. The answer is never. That has nothing to do with Covid.

Serious illness, unfortunately — from influenza to covid to heart disease — is often one way patients are forced to stop smoking (as in they physically cannot smoke, no matter what.) About 50% of people who recover will start to smoke again. That said, the longer you are off of them and the more support you have around you, the higher your chance of success.
