#HormoneImbalance is big business: from “clinics” with no actual medical doctors to supplement sales to crazy diets to home testing kits to online docs with no actual clinics….
So, today we are on to testosterone: Low testosterone is common – just maybe not as common as people who sell low T products or services say it is… And the fact that it can be associated with conditions such as sleep apnoea or type 2 diabetes means that patients who are worried about it need whole-person care – not marketing or online dispensaries.
Scroll through images above for top things you should know before you spend €€€€ on home testing kits or “well-man visits” that is basically just that NCT you can – and should! – get with your GP for far, far less.
Should you get checked for low T? Well, here’s a free little home test I find reliable:
What’s your cholesterol? What’s your fasting blood sugar? What’s your blood pressure?
If you don’t know the answer to these, you don’t need an at-home low-T test – you need a visit to the GP to get your whole health checked. And just bring up the testosterone while you are there.
All this week, we’re bringing the science to the hormones to help you make informed decisions about your health as a patient – and consumer. We’ll be doing this one hormone at a time ….
