Go outside for at least 10 minutes a day this month. Ideally, during the short hours that the sun is up. Get some fresh air, a little daylight (sunlight if you are lucky) Take a 10 minute walk during lunch or while on a call.
The science? Even 10 minutes of movement (an exercise “snack”) can boost mood and help clear your mind. The lack of daylight during the winter may contribute to some people’s lower mood in winter months. Gettign outside during daylight hours can also help with sleep.
While some people have a natural hesitation to go out and about during the winter months, it usually worthwhile. Nature is equally as beautiful this time of year as it is in summer. This afternoon, my husband and I took our boys for a walk at the Fairy Desmesne at St. Catherine’s Park. It was 3 -4 degrees and rained for parts, but it was still wonderful and brisk and quite beautiful.
