Want to live – and live well – into your 100s? Can eating the right foods really help you live longer?

It won’t surprise you to hear that the answer is “Technically – yes, but it’s more complicated than that.”

Johanna Mazibuko’s story has been covered recently but she’s not the only person living – and living well – into her 100s.

Wouldn’t it be great if doctors could study these people and figure out what they get right?

Funny you should ask…

There is a project called @BlueZones that does just that! They have studied – and continue to study – the lifestyles of the populations with the longest life expectancy. Many of their findings and 20 years of research so far are already incorporated into best practice by lifestyle medicine docs (like me!). It’s more than just food (though that is important!) – it’s also physical activity, social and family connections, spirtuality, and sense of purpose.
