Nutribabble Red Flags

If you are seeking nutritional input, here are 🚩red flags🚩 you should look out for:

🚩 If you are unsure about your nutritionist’s qualifications (FYI: Anyone can call themselves a “nutritionist” and/or have a fancy website. The qualification you should look for is a dietitian with INDI and CORU registration. This is CRITICAL when we are talking about infants, children, adolescents, people with diabetes or obesity, patients on drugs such as Ozempic/Saxenda, or patients with complex medical needs.)

🚩 You are being sold supplements. Especially by someone who has their own line of supplements.

🚩 Your new food plan has you hungry. Constantly hungry. All the time. #hungryisnthealthy

🚩 You are on a diet, especially anything that is guaranteeing rapid weight loss (more than 1-2 lbs/week) or large amount within so many weeks.

🚩 You new food plan is causing psychological stress or disordered eating.

🚩 You have new long lists of restricted or banned foods.

🚩You are recommended to have food allergy/sensitivity/intolerance testing that involves any of the following: hair clippings, IgG anything, kinesiology, vega, enzyme potentiated desensitization, acupuncture, chiropractor, naturopathy.

🚩 If following social media accounts, validate the account’s real life credentials. These have the potential to be amazing, such as following INDI/CORU registered dietitians, consultant gastroenterologists, or certified allergy specialist physicians. Consider conflict of interest – are they promoting a product? Are they an influencer?

🚩 Weight stigma/weight bias was part of your experience with the nutritionist, and or they do not consider obesity a disease.

🚩 The plan from your nutritionist involves excessive amounts of physical activity, to the point you are under pressure
